excess baggage

for anyone who's experienced life - we all drag around some excess baggage. how does one deal with this? with yourself? in relationships? with friends or lovers?

a little luggage is ok - we've got tools now to learn from mistakes made in the past. it keeps us on the road, in the right direction. but at what point do we exceed the weight limit that the load keeps dragging behind, keeping us from getting anywhere?

the trick i guess is to lighten the load as much as we can - through self examination, and letting go of some of the old stuff that we really don't need anymore. it's ok to throw stuff in the garbage or give it away to the salvation army. just keep the essential tools for survival, and continue on our fascinating journey..

you have essentially answered your own question and i think youre on the right track- every so often you have to examine what you have and if you havent worn it in two years...purge. whayda neeed that old thing for anyway? it just makes you look fat....and the journey is always more fun if youre not carrying as much. however dont forget your water....;)

Baggage - I of course took in a more literal sense because when I flew last it turns out they changed the baggage requirements (and flying immitates life!) - you are allowed two bags each still but each must be under 50 pounds, so since we travel with two sma;; children we dump all the heavy stuff in the adult bags and basically let the kiddies carry their toys.

Well life is not so forgiving anymore, right there at check in we had to redistribute the weight amongst the four bags, no one gets by anymore - not even the children.

I eneded up carrying one knapsack, one pocketbook and one waist bag, I think each weighed 30 pounds - that seemed to be quite okay, but it was a no no to try and shove it in my suitcase!

Not exactly what you had in mind when you posted, but ignited the flame of recognition within me and wanted to share..

Oh yeah and my back killed me the whole trip - just to conform to the rules....
